Petrichor is the pleasant scent that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather. The word comes from the Ancient Greek πέτρα (rock), or πέτρος (stone) and ἰχώρ, the ethereal fluid that flows through the veins of the gods in ancient Greek mythology.
